Yzerman didn’t draft Bergy.

He was a Kenny Holland pick.

Maybe Steve thinks he can only have so many forwards on the smallish side?

Bergy isn’t exactly a defensive stalwart.

But I think he can still contribute.

But he may indeed want a fresh start with another team.

As we’ve seen with Yzerman, he wants no player who doesn’t want to be in Detroit.

Mike its possible but I recall reading that he would not sign a new contract which leads me to believe he wants out. He will be a restricted free agent after the season, which means if he signed with another team, compensations to the Wings would have to worked out. Three things are possible.

  One he is enjoying being the best offensive player at GR and still wants to be part of the organization. He wants to play for Detroit next year.  Two he wants out of Detroit and a fresh chance with another organization. What often happens is two teams with a disgruntled player will agree that it would be best if each got a fresh start somewhere else. It jus has not worked out for either player with their team and neither guy is happy with how they are being used. Often a new coach and team works wonders and both  players do well with their new teams. Maybe that will happen for Berggers. I hope so.  

     Four, he is part of a larger Wings trade and is part of a deal for  a veteran winning goalie or a top four defenseman.   Mike all these things are possible. Did not mean to write so much but just trying to lay out  all the possibilities. Go Wings.
