In reply to Tom Rady. They should try the young guys in an expanded role then. Try them out and if they can’t hack it send them back down. There’s no possible chance they win the cup this year anyway so why not? If they’re able to make the playoffs they’d probably be the easiest out.

In reply to AKscott. How much would those guys get to play in Detroit? In GR they play 20 min a nite in all situations. Can you guarantee they would play that much in Det? Or would they play 8 min on the fourth line or be a sixth defenseman playing seven minutes a game. Yzerman does not want them her in Det unless they are playing a regular shift every nite. They are developing much more quickly playing big minutes in the American League. Czarnik is a career minor leaguer and fourth line guy who fills in and plays a role. He is used to that. You dont want young guys sitting. Thats the point.

Lalondes fondness for Czarnik makes me scratch my head. When has he ever had any impact on the team? He may play a safe responsible game and give a good effort, but a team full of Czarniks would get crushed every night, kinda like what’s already been happening recently. Why not bring up Mazur who could add a little bit of abrasiveness and net front to their play? Or Edvinsson, or Johansson who surely couldn’t be as bad as most of the Detroit D-men are currently playing? Yzerman didn’t make a move because he likes the depth they have in GR, and with a 6 game losing streak they bring up Czarink… what the??
