Reimer Could Force Red Wings to Reconsider Goalie Plans (+).

James Reimer’s hot start gives rise to the idea of the Detroit Red Wings embracing a tandem approach to goaltending rather Ville Husso being locked in as the No. 1.

After four starts, Reimer has 1.52 goals-against average and .944 save percentage. Meanwhile, Husso owns a 3.28 GAA and a .900 save percentage.  Husso has had some quality starts, including his last one against the New York Islanders. He made 37 saves in that contest. But in seven starts this season, Husso has given up three or more goals six times.

Reimer gave up one goal in his last outing, a 2-0 loss to the Florida Panthers. After the game, Detroit coach Derek Lalonde was asked whether Reimer deserved an increase in start frequency, Lalonde offered a definitive “Maybe.”
