Probably because Axel Sandin Pellikka already has 9 goals in 25 games in the SHL. Something no teenage defenseman has done in 40 years, (and he’s not even half way through his season).

I’m amazed how Hronek is never discussed when talking about bad trades.

Mantha is a head case in his own right, but I’d echo what you stated earlier in your own comment – Yzerman should be trusted when a decision about how a player “fits” is made. Apparently, he valued trading Matha in the 11th hour of that trade deadline and felt the assets were worth the swueeze.

The trade is still alive, Cossa and Buchelnikov are still in the organization. Time will tell.

Besides his off ice possible issues he would not follow and instructions according to Berube. Benched him, sat him out and he still just did his thing and did not even try to change. They finally decided his prima donna attitude was not a fit and tried to trade him, but could not. Sound familiar? No takers, so now on waivers. A player with that skill and three teams now wanted him gone. Two for nothing. If you can’t read the tea leaves on that not sure what to tell you. Sad thing is they moved on from Mantha and it would have been nice if the trade could have worked better.
