Lalonde has been at least partly responsible for growing Yzerman’s young Tampa draft choices into quality NHL players. Assuming he can do the same in Detroit the Wings will start to show it soon and there won’t be any looking back. Time to climb onto the wagon while the good seats are available and enjoy the ride.

I placed my bet on Lalonde at the very beginning so I am not surprised by this hire. The Red Wings are now fully becoming Yzerman’s team. The players he drafted are now showing up and he now has his coach. Lalonde earned this chance, now let’s see what he can do with it.

No idea if this is the best pick we will know in a couple years I guess. Even then not all regular season coaches are NHL level playoff coaches but time will tell on this. At this point just trust Yzerman until proven otherwise he deserves it so will give him a long leash. Now if this team is tanking in three years instead of making playoff noise this grace period will be over. For now love him.
