At the time it was quite the idea, it allowed goalies to push off with their skate boot instead of their skate blade.
As a goaltender I can’t tell you how much easier it was to move while down with it.
Many people do not know about it, I’d wager that only goaltenders of my age range(40) would have any knowledge of it.
His movement and skating were easily one of his biggest assets physically.
