In reply to John Parham. John your exactly right but I think we were also lucky in that the Ottawa GM was backed up against the weall. I read some of kind of salary arbitration was coming up for Debrincat next month plus his agent was adamant they would never sign with Ottawa. There was more than one team trying to get Debrinkat but Detroit had the best salary cap and also the most tenacious general manager. Also a very skilled general manager who moves quickly, adroitly and quietly behind the scenes without much notice. And then nothing is announced until all the conditions are agreed to and met. Thats why he is one of the best.

I didn’t think Yzerman would make this trade because the cost would be too high and DeBrincat’s contract demands were too high. He ended up trading two pieces that were not part of the Red Wing’s long term plans and what will be a middle, first round pick. Considering what Ottawa gave up for DeBrincat this trade is a steal. Nice work by the Captain.

Now THIS trade for DeBrincat feels much better than the rumor that had the Wings losing two top prospects. We keep them and Yzerman didn’t end up in cap danger. Great job as usual by S.Y.

The dry spells that Kubalik had are gone and Sebrango has a better chance to play in Ottowa. AND the power play should be fierce. Best of all the Wings are legit playoff contenders at least. GO WINGS!
