Cross Hanas hasn’t taken his foot off the accelerator. The Grand Rapids Griffins lost a 3-2 overtime game Saturday night, but Hanas scored his seventh goal of the season.

The Red Wings’ second round pick (No. 55, 2020) boasts 11 points in his first 13 American Hockey League games. He’s on a pace to score 43 goals in his first AHL season.

His most recent surge (five points in four games) couldn’t have come at a better time. Austin Czarnak and Jonatan Berggren, crucial to the Griffins’ offense, were called  up to the Red Wings.

In other AHL news, Minnesota Wild prospect goaltender Jesper Wallstedt scored an empty-net goal for Iowa Wild last night. If the Swedish goalie sounds familiar, it’s probably because there was speculation two years ago that the Red Wings. Instead, they drafted Sebastian Cossa at No. 15. The Wild drafted Wallstedt at No. 20. Both teams are happy with their selections
