The Wings came close to making the playoffs last season. Presumably the reasons why they came up short can be seen by looking at how Yzerman changed the team afterward by increasing player size and talent depth.

Will those changes help matters? That’s up to Lalonde and co. They need to assess what they have and provide a playing strategy that allows it to excel against a TOUGH Atlantic division.

The Wings will need goal scoring from the start because every standings point will matter at the end in a division that’s fast closing in on parity.

They play the games because paper isnt accurate enough to settle the “who’s better?” question.
