They are doing quite well, thank you! Believe in the Yzerplan and the group of his advisors both here and in Europe. Has to be ‘the best’!

I think he does not go so much on stats or talent as character and what they see internally as potential. They know what kind of players they want. So they don’t match up to pure talent or analytics that do not weigh those things as heavily as they do. To me that is not a bug but a feature.

They know what they look for and want and he hits more than he misses. Never going to be right all the time but if like they say you can get a couple good ones that is the goal. Sure he is not worried about what others think.

I agree with you AZ_Spartan. Trust the Yzerplan. In Yzerman I Trust. He is the Draft God of Hockey. Best GM in the League today and look at his work in Tampa Bay before he came to Detroit. 2 almost a 3rd Stanley Cup.

I wonder what he thought of the Mo Seider pick when it happened.

On numerous occasions he has said that he hopes to get “a couple of good prospects” out of a draft. Over the longer term say 5 to 7 years you can build a good core of players on your team. A good GM can then populate the rest of the team through free agent signings, trades and pickups. The sad reality is that the majority of players drafted into the NHL each year are not going to have significant NHL playing careers. So Steve continues to stay the course.
