Red Wings Captain Larkin Out, Holl Uncertain vs Rangers
Larkin could miss Detroit’s next two games
Amidst the euphoria from the news of Patrick Kane signing with the Detroit Red Wings, there was also some unhappy news being shared by the club on Tuesday. And it is entirely disheartening.
While they will soon be welcoming a former NHL MVP into the fold, the Red Wings will be playing their next game, and possibly their next two minus captain Dylan Larkin.
Of late, Larkin has been playing through an undisclosed injury, but that ailment has finally got the better of him.

“Dylan is out tomorrow,” Red Wings coach Derek Lalonde confirmed. “He’s probably in that day-to-day scenario. With him not traveling with us, I’d probably put him unlikely for Thursday (against Chicago), too.
“I think we’d hope and expect him back for Montreal on Saturday. No IR. He’s missed some practices.”
This situation would explain why earlier Wednesday, the Red Wings were summoning forward Jonatan Berggren from the AHL Grand Rapids Griffins. Carrying the hot hand of late, Berggren has four goals in the past five games for the Griffins.
Walman Back For Red Wings; Holl Uncertain
Meanwhile, there is a returnee to the Red Wings defense, but he may end up taking the place of another injured rearguard. Jake Walman is coming back into the lineup after missing Sunday’s win over the Minnesota Wild. However, Detroit defenseman Justin Holl is dealing with an injury. His status for Wednesday’s game is up in the air.
Per Coach Lalonde, Dylan Larkin (day to day) will not play tomorrow in New York.
Additionally, Justin Holl is questionable for tomorrow and Jake Walman is expected to be available.

“Walman is good to go,” Lalonde said. “Holl was unable to practice today, so I don’t know if Justin will be available for us tomorrow.
“If he’s not, we’ll probably call a D-man up for a little insurance there as a seventh guy. We’ll be traveling with just the 12 forwards with Berggren up.”
Ville Husso will be getting the start in goal for the Wings, who’ve won three games in a row since returning from an 0-1-1 trip to Sweden.
