Detroit Red Wings
Kevin’s Morning Hash: Detroit UFA salary projections, Jack Eichel rumor and love for Bergeron
Some Detroit Hockey Now readers believe that paying Luke Glendening $1 to stay with the Red Wings is too much. Fans are divided about whether GM Steve Yzerman should re-sign him.
Glendening, 32, is coming off a contract with a $1.8 million cap hit. An agent, not Glendening’s agent, said he believes Glendening’s next deal will pay him “close to what he is currently making – maybe a little less. My guess will be that he gets close to what he is currently making – maybe a little more. If the Red Wings re-sign him, my projection his salary cap hit of $2 million.
Here are projections for what the salary cap hit would be for other players the Red Wings might re-sign:
Goalie Jonathan Bernier: $3.5 million on a two-year deal.
Right wing Bobby Ryan: $1.175 million on a one-year deal
Center Sam Gagner: $900,000
Defenseman Marc Staal: $2.3 million.
Rumor of the Day
The Anaheim Ducks and Los Angeles Kings appear to be the frontrunners in the Jack Eichel Sweepstakes
Friedman – The Ducks refused to include Drysdale and Zegras in their pitch to Columbus to trade for Pierre Luc Dubois (before he was traded to Winnipeg), so they may or may not be in play for #Sabres captain Jack Eichel.
