On the other hand, when Tampa had their trip it galvanized them. It could go either way. Either way, I respect Larkin all the more for being honest, and if that cheeses off the NHL brass, I’m even more happy. I’ll be honest, I dont like the idea of this trip. Its being done for cynical reasons. I dont agree that the “grow the game” angle is legit, because Sweden is already a massive hockey market. If they want to actually grow the game, take it to a country where hockey isn’t high profile. This trip is about money, pure and simple. I have a major problem with the trip forming part of the regular season. This is something best done as a pre-season. Having said that, if it has a good effect on the team, especially post trip that will do a lot to dilute my concerns.
