The Daily: Red Wings Meet Bertuzzi Again; Habs’ Xhekaj Injured
The Detroit Red Wings will get their first in-person look at Tyler Bertuzzi in a Toronto Maple Leafs jersey today. Detroit plays Toronto at 2 p.m. today in Sweden. They will see a Bertuzzi who is playing more confidently than he was a month ago.
After struggling to find his game and place on the Maple Leafs earlier this season, Detroit Hockey Now’s Tim Robinson points out that Bertuzzi had three points and is +3 in his past three games. Bertuzzi generated his first two-point game of the season in his last outing against the Vancouver Canucks. He is expected to play on a line with John Tavares and William Nylander.
Bertuzzi, 28, is a close friend of Dylan Larkin. He was a popular player with teammates and the Detroit fan base. He scored 30 goals for Detroit in 2021-22. Injuries have undermined his career. This season, Bertuzzi has six points in 15 games. That’s a 33-point pace.
