Kevin’s Morning Hash: Avs Could Lose Captain, Contenders Covet Suter, Bruin to KHL

Colorado Hockey Now’s Adrian Dater is reporting there is a chance the Colorado Avalanche could lose their captain Gabriel Landeskog to free agency.

Dater says negotiations are ongoing, but he’s getting the impression there is a small chance a deal won’t get done. Most people have assumed that this contract would get done. Landeskog is vital to the Avs for his leadership, scoring and defensive play.

If he goes to market, Landeskog probably could get $8 million per season, according to Dater. Landeskog would draw many bidders, maybe even the Red Wings. He is 28.

Trade Rumor of the Day

Word around the NHL is that a line is forming for defenseman Ryan Suter’s services. The Minnesota Wild bought him out yesterday, along with Zach Parise. Suter averaged 22 minutes per games last season. The Blackhawks, Avalanche, Golden Knights and Capitals are among the teams expected to be in the hunt.

Washington Hockey Now’s Sammi Silber says the Capitals are are already interested.
