The Daily: Dylan Strome Could Be a Coup for the Capitals
The Detroit Red Wings had finished their free agency shopping long before Dylan Strome was inked by the Washington Capitals. Washington Hockey Now’s Sammi Silber writes that Capitals fans should be excited with what Strome has to offer.

The former Chicago center is now added to slot into the second line center role. The speedy Strome could be a boon for a Washington team trying to keep that contention window open. Whether it translates is another thing. Strome did have 22 goals and 26 assists on a Chicago Blackhawks squad that was among the worst in the league.
Beyond Strome, Silber reports on Alex Ovechkin’s courting of Evander Kane last season. Chalk it up to a great chance at winning another Stanley Cup. Edmonton ultimately signed him and then re-signed him to a four-year deal this offseason. Silber adds that Ovechkin is optimistic about the team’s acquisitions heading into the new season.
The Red Wings were never a destination for Kane.
Along with Strome, the Capitals chase at another Cup are still strong.
