A powerful Albert Johansson one-timer provided the difference in Farjestad's 2-1 victory over Rogle in Game 2 of their SHL semifinal series.

It’s a certainty that there will be a Detroit Red Wings defensive prospect skating in the Swedish Hockey League final. Albert Johansson might not be the one that people were expecting to be that guy.

A powerful Johansson one-timer in late going of regulation time ended up providing the difference in Farjestad’s 2-1 victory over Rogle in Game 2 of their best-of-seven SHL semifinal series. With just 2:27 remaining in the third period, Johansson (60th overall, 2019 NHL entry draft) stepped into a shot at the top of the faceoff circles and drove the puck home.

The result leaves Farjestad up 2-0 on Rogle, last season’s SHL finalists and the team of Red Wings defensive prospect William Wallinder (32nd overall, 2020). Former Red Wings forward Jacob De La Rose scored twice for Farjestad in their 4-3 Game 1 triumph.

The other semifinal between Frolunda HC and Lulea is continuing on Tuesday. They are deadlocked 1-1 through two games. Lulea forward Pontus Andreasson, who will be signing as a free agent with the Red Wings following the season, is going to be sitting out the second game of a two-game suspension for an illegal check to the head on Frolunda scoring leader Ryan Lasch in Game 1.

Defenseman Simon Edvinsson (6th overall, 2021) is an uncertain starter due to illness. Forwards Elmer Soderblom (159th overall, 2019) and Theodor Niederbach (51st overall, 2020) will be suiting up for Frolunda.
