SHL Playoffs: Lulea Eliminates Frolunda, Red Wings Prospect Andreasson Scores Series Winner
Someday, Pontus Andreasson may end up being Detroit Red Wings teammates with Simon Edvinsson, Theodor Neiderbach and Elmer Soderblom. Saturday, though, Andreasson was the guy who ended their season.
Andreasson, who will be signing a free agent contract with the Red Wings at the end of the season, netted the game and series-winning goal as Lulea beat Frolunda HC 3-1 on Saturday. The outcome gave Lulea a 4-1 verdict in the SHL semifinal series.

It was Andreasson’s eighth goal in eight playoff games. He drew the primary assist on the winner in Game 4, a 2-0 Lulea triumph. That was his first game back in the lineup after sitting out a two-game suspension for a head check on Frolunda forward Ryan Lasch during Game 1 of the series.
Red Wings Prospect Leads All SHL Scorers
Andersson’s eight goals lead all SHL playoff scorers. It also ties him for the Lulea single-season playoff mark set by Linus Persson in 2012-13.
Frolunda managed to score just one goal over the final two games of the best-of-seven series. Edvinsson returned to action in time for Game 4 of the set. He missed the first three games due to a combination of injury and illness.
Soderblom finished the series with 1-1-2 totals but was held off the scoresheet over the last three games. Niederbach’s only point during the series was a goal in Game 1.
Albert Johansson is playing his best hockey at exactly the right time.
In the semifinals vs Rögle, he has 3 points (1+2), 13 SOG and is a big reason Färjestad is up 3-1 with a chance to advance to finals on sunday.

Red Wings draft pick Albert Johansson and Farjestad can join Lulea in the final with a victory on Sunday over Rogle, the team of Detroit draftee and SHL Junior Player of the Year William Wallinder. Farjestad leads that series 3-1. Johansson collected an assist in their 6-2 victory in Game 4 on Friday.
Both Andreasson and Simon Edvinsson are finalists for the SHL Rookie of the Year Award.
Menawhile, in Finland, Wings draftee Eemil Viro and TPS find themselves down 2-0 to Tappara in the best-of-seven SM-liiga final. Tappara were 2-1 winners in Game 2 on Saturday.
