Pontus Andreasson, Detroit Red Wings prospect

Red Wings prospects Pontus Andreasson (Lulea) and Albert Johansson (Farjestad) will be contesting the best-of-seven SHL championship series.

A Detroit Red Wings prospect will be lifting the SHL championship trophy. By pushing past Rogle, Albert Johansson’s Farjestad will be clashing with Pontus Andreasson’s Lulea.

Via a 5-4 overtime victory, Frajestad and Johansson (60th overall, 2019), were eliminating defenseman William Wallinder (32nd overall, 2020) and Rogle in Game 6 of their semfinal series.

Although neither player figured on the scoresheet, both were heavily involved in the game. Johansson was on the ice for five goals – three for and two against – and ended up logging 28:09 of ice time.

Wallinder was skating in a team-high 32:29 for Rogle. He was on the ice for all four of their goals, as well as three goals against.

The best-of-seven final series is getting underway Monday, May 1.

Cossa Stellar Again

For the third straight game, Edmonton Oil Kings goalie and 2021 Red Wings first-round pick (15th overall) Sebastian Cossa was a rock. Stopping 25 of 26 shots, be was backstopping Edmonton to a 4-1 win at Lethbridge and a 3-0 lead in their WHL first-round playoff series.

Cossa has parried 75 of 77 shots he’s faced in the series, a .974 save percentage. He was named WHL Goaltender of the Week for his efforts.

Hot Red Wings

Rookies Moritz Seider (25:29) and Lucas Raymond (20:05) both played over 20 minutes, almost all of it against Toronto’s best players and were even in Tuesday’s 3-0 loss to the Maple Leafs. Seider had six shots and three hits. Raymond finished with three shots.

Cold Red Wings

Defenseman Filip Hronek was minus-two in the loss at Toronto. He’s now a team-worst minus-31.
