Piercey scored four goals in Detroit rookie game last fall
Riley Piercey was briefly a Detroit Red Wings star in the spotlight last fall. A free-agent hopeful playing for Detroit in the club’s NHL Rookie Tournament in Traverse City. Michigan, Piercey would pot four goals during a 5-2 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets rookies.

It didn’t earn him a contract. He was released from his tryout a few days later. Returning to play for the OHL’s Flint Firebirds, where he was a teammate of top Red Wings prospect Amadeus Lombardi, Piercey finally got himself a contract. He recently signed an AHL deal with the Bridgeport Islanders, top farm club of the New York Islanders.
