Best Bets for Detroit Red Wings vs. St. Louis Blues (2/24/24)

The Detroit Red Wings have a real chance to grow the gap between them and the Eastern Conference playoff field with a win over the St. Louis Blues on Saturday, thus ending their seven-year playoff drought. With each passing week, and stumbled by teams like the Pittsburgh Penguins and New Jersey Devils, the odds get better and better.

With a win and a loss from a few of the teams behind them, the Red Wings could increase its cushion for a wild card spot to eight points.

And they are on the right track after picking up wins in their last three contests.

The Blues, meanwhile, have kept up a 4-3-0 pace in February and are holding onto the final wild card spot in the Western Conference.

Per NHL odds at BetMGM, Detroit is favored to win Saturday’s afternoon matchup with -145 odds. St. Louis, meanwhile, has +120 odds to walk away with two points.

Blues forward Robert Thomas is riding the biggest hot streak coming into the matchup, scoring the eighth-most points (13) and the third-most assists (11) in the NHL since the start of February.

Thomas is riding a four-game point streak into Saturday, one on which he has recorded a goal and seven assists.

He has +250 odds to score a goal, which could very well come for him with how dangerous his playmaking prowess has been as of late.

Patrick Kane has been the hot hand for the Red Wings.

He is riding an eight-game point streak, on which he has three goals and five assists, since returning to the lineup from an injury that had kept him out since Jan. 14.

Kane has +200 odds to score a goal in a matchup with a Blues team he has owned throughout his career.

His 27 goals against the Blues are the second-most he has scored against a team in his career, trailing just the Dallas Stars, who he has scored 32 against in regular season contests.

Daniel Sprong has also picked up two goals in the past six contests and could be in line for another goal on Saturday.

He has +310 odds to get on the scoresheet against the Blues.

A same-game parlay containing a Red Wings win, a Robert Thomas goal, a Patrick Kane goal, and a Daniel Sprong goal have +4000 odds of hitting, granting a bet of $10 with a $410 return.
