The Daily: Jagr, 51, Earns Point in Season Debut; Zadina Update

Jaromir Jagr, now in his 36th professional season, made his season debut for Rytíři Kladno in the Czech Extraliga. He picked up an assist.

Jagr is 51.

He’s like the Czech version of Gordie Howe.

Jagr was always an entertaining performer when he was in the NHL and he hasn’t stopped putting on a show. He has owned the Kladno team since 2011 and last season he put up five goals and 14 points in 26 games for the team.  He’s not Jagr 1992 vintage, but still boasts hockey skill. The instincts are still there, even if the speed has been reduced.

Red Wings Next Game

The Red Wings will play the Philadelphia Flyers Friday at home and the New Jersey Devils Saturday on the road before their Christmas break begins. David Perron returns to the lineup Friday after completing his six-game suspension. The Red Wings (15-13-4) are 1-6-1 in their last eight games. They’ve fallen into fifth place in the Atlantic Division. They are two points out of a wild card playoff position.
