Kevin some but not all of this falls on the Coach. I just dont see how Coach Lalonde can survive this. A more vet with head?coaching experience is needed. Kevin two questions. One how?desireable is the Red Wing job now? Two who are some of the vet coaches that they could get? Kevin enjoy the work u and Bob do very much. Kevin I have tried to subscribe but I have some past subscription requests in the “que” or system. How do I get those erased. Again u guys do a fine job. Tom

The Wings are still too old and small on the boards against Most teams in the NHL. Team defense has to be played by the entire team in order to compete the WHOLE game with every team in the NHL.The rebuild must ‘begin’ with their talent in GR and trading old guys(Fabbri, Perron, Chaboit, etc. Younger and bigger has been the trend in NHL for a decade and the Wings are way behind the curve today!

Great player no doubt but there is a lot of anecdotal evidence to suggest he is and was an a-whole (sp), which isn’t a bad thing necessarily. Let’s move on from the “Believe in SYs plan”

6 years, 6 drafts =
2 – NHL players developed

Trades and free agent signings =

No – NHL quality goalie
0 – Top 4 Defensemen
No #1 center
1 – top 6 forward
No – NHL caliber coach

For all 16 playoff contenders how many Red wings would make their top 6 forwards? Top 4 defensemen? Starting goalie?

With an owner like Chris I there will never be any urgency in competing for a Stanley Cup the way his Dad did.

Let’s plaster a few more patches …. maybe a bail bondsman or a funeral home …. on the R W sweaters.

Where is the veteran leadership in the room at? The strategy for this rebuilding team was to have these veterans provide leadership in the locker room. A rebuilding team with zero rookies in the lineup throws a red flag. Instead, the veterans brought in are simply occupying a roster spot, are they not? Would much rather watch Albert and Edvinsson make mistakes in the NHL that are going to develop them, rather than watching Chiarot, Petry and Maatta just crap the bed, providing little value.

I’m a huge Yzerman guy (I admire him as a player, a GM, and as a human being) but the roster construction of this team is on him. The coaching staff, on him. This is a year that could prove to be wasted in the careers of a lot of players.

Steve has lots of work to do. The answer is not found in more veterans. Holl, Petry, Ghost, Chiarot, and Perron are not the answer. And sadly, they are stuck with the rest for a while.
