The Daily: Gotta See Lane Hutson Goal; Should Pens Move Guentzel?

Montreal Canadiens prospect Lane Hutson looked like he learned hockey at Hogwart’s School of Magic with a goal in scored at Monday’s World Junior Summer Showcase. Hutson was born in Holland, Michigan.

The 5-foot-9 Boston University defenseman is a wizard with the puck. His abracadabra moment Monday came during USA White Team’s 10-1 win against Sweden at the tournament in Plymouth, Michigan. Check out the second video below. Montreal Hockey Now writer Marc Dumont believes he can be a difference-maker in Montreal, although it won’t be this season. He is returning to BU.

Before the tournament started,  USA Hockey’s Director of Hockey Operations John Vaniesbrouck said about Hutson: “You are going to notice (Montreal draft pick) Lane Hutson,” Vanbiesbrouck said. “It’s hard not to notice him. Very nifty. Has the puck a lot. ”

The Hutson puck sorcery is one reason why USA Hockey likes its chances for the World Junior Championships, which will be played over the holidays

If you want to see the Hutson’ magic act, he is playing Wednesday at 4 p.m. at USA Hockey Arena when the two American teams faceoff. Red Wings goalie Trey Augustine could be in net for USA White. Red Wings’ prospects Axel Sandin Pellikka and Anton Johansson will be playing for Sweden in the 1 p.m. game against Finland
