A baseball player going five-for-six will gain consideration as a superstar. When it comes to coming up with five players who might go sixth overall to the Detroit Red Wings, we here at Detroit Hockey Now needed to dive much deeper than six mock drafts in order to come up with five options.

There’s an overwhelming favorite to be picked at six and it’s Swedish goaltender Jesper Wallstedt. Out of eight NHL mock drafts checked, Wallstedt was the guy going to the Red Wings in 50 percent of those mocks.

Studying a cross-section of mock drafts isn’t exactly scientific analysis for determining player selection accuracy. No one saw Moritz Seider going No. 6 to the Wings two years ago.

Besides, knowing how Red Wings GM Steve Yzerman rarely goes with the traffic, seeing Wallstedt representing as the Detroit choice in so many mock drafts probably means there’s no way Stevie Y is taking him.

Anyway, without further adieu, let’s look at the five who might be Red Wings at six.
