Detroit Hockey Now Podcast Talks Vladimir Konstantinov With Alan Moore

One of the few bright spots during Thursday’s 4-1 Detroit Red Wings loss to the Arizona Coyotes was arriving when former Wings star Vladimir Konstantinov was shown sitting in the owner’s box at Little Caesars Arena watching the game.

The sight of the Vladinator at any Red Wings game always leads to a thunderous ovation from the faithful. He was a Norris Trophy finalist and a key contributor to the club’s 1996-97 Stanley Cup win. Just days after that victory, Konstantinov would suffer debilitating brain injuries in a limousine crash.

Working with Alan Moore of Sportsgraphing.com, Konstantinov has been signing items. One hundred percent of the proceeds from selling of this autographed memorabilia go directly to the Vladimir Konstantinov Special Needs Trust Fund which supports #16. Resulting from the creation of this program is the raising of more than $100,000 to help defray costs that Konstantinov incurs.

Moore joined Kevin Allen and Bob Duff on this week’s Detroit Hockey Now podcast. They were discussing a couple of upcoming opportunities for Red Wings fans to meet up with Konstantinov and get items autographed by him.

Detroit Alumni To Face Rangers

For the first time since his 1997 accident, Konstantinov will be visiting Canada. He’s making an appearance at the Rose City Comic Convention in Windsor on April 6 from 12-3 p.m. There will be photo opps and autograph opportunities with Vladdie. Konstantinov 8×10 photos will be available for sale onsite if you don’t have something of your own to get signed.

The Red Wings Alumni will be clashing with the New York Rangers Alumni on April 27 at Big Boy Arena at 2 p.m. Konstantinov will be on hand to drop the ceremonial first puck. There’s also a VIP Post Game Charity Fundraiser at Ciccarelli’s Premier Sports Club & Eatery in Shelby Township.

Konstantinov May Play Sled Hockey

There are tentative plans for a sled hockey game prior to the alumni game, and there’s a chance that Konstantinov may play in the sled hockey game.

Dino Ciccarelli, Mickey Redmond and Red Berenson are among those slated to appear for the Red Wings Alumni. A who’s who of Rangers alumni will also be on hand. The list is including Ron Duguay, Bernie Nicholls and Hall of Fame goalie Henrik Lundqvist.
